Job Description:

A well-established, privately led consultancy of Fire Engineering Consultants, Building Services Engineers, and Project Managers is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to join their Glasgow teams. With a long-standing UK and international client base, their senior leadership remains hands-on across projects, ensuring quality, collaboration, and technical excellence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead complex fire engineering projects from inception to completion
  • Manage scope, programme, budget, and client expectations
  • Build trusted relationships with clients, design teams, and authorities
  • Support bids, fee proposals, and business development
  • Deliver and review fire strategies, façade assessments, and detailed analyses including CFD, evacuation modelling, and smoke control
  • Maintain strong knowledge of UK legislation (Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974)
  • Ensure all outputs are robust and compliant
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, oversight, and structured feedback
  • Collaborate across disciplines
  • Manage project finances, support forecasting, and maintain accurate records

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural or similar)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering
  • Full IFE membership
  • working towards or holding CEng
  • Minimum 6 years' UK fire engineering experience
  • Proven project leadership and technical review capability
