We are looking for an experienced Team Leader for our national Ports & Maritime team to help shape the future of our maritime capability across Australia. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Perth, offering flexibility while connecting you with our national and global maritime networks. You will lead a talented group of maritime engineers and specialists, guide project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and support the strategic growth of our Ports & Maritime business. In this highly collaborative role, you will partner closely with coastal engineering, environmental services, transport, geotechnical and other technical teams to deliver innovative solutions for port authorities, government, and private-sector clients.
Job Responsibility:
Set clear and achievable goals with team members and conduct regular 1:1 catch-ups to check-in on team member health and wellbeing and track the goal progress
Develop the team’s skills and experience through appropriate training development, mentoring and guidance
Foster a success-oriented environment within the team by displaying collaborative behaviours and exerting measured and balanced influence
Lead the planning, execution, and interpretation of geotechnical investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing
Prepare technical reports and recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and ground improvement
Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships
Lead and/or review proposals for pricing, approach and methodology, variation estimates and submission documents, and review and evaluate subconsultant tender response submissions to ensure they are suitable
Support the Business Leader in monitoring and reporting on team performance, contributing to the preparation of annual business plans and strategic initiatives
Ensure optimal team utilization through effective forecasting, workload management, and delegation of tasks
Contribute to the development and maintenance of a healthy project backlog through strategic networking and business development activities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Maritime or Coastal Engineering
Minimum 10 years of experience in ports, maritime or coastal engineering projects
Accredited as CPEng
A broad range of skills covering people management, business development, project delivery and business management
Experience in managing teams with direct line management duties
Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes
Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries
