Job Overview: The Principal Engineer, Order Management, is responsible for leading the end-to-end lifecycle of circuit orders across Backhaul, Enterprise, and National Core networks. This role provides technical and operational leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient order execution in alignment with business and network delivery objectives. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy, influencing cross-functional teams and external vendors, including third-party order management partners, to drive execution and resolve complex issues. The role is accountable for establishing visibility into order performance, managing risk, and delivering concise reporting to senior leadership. Success is measured by on-time delivery, order accuracy, process scalability, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across order management functions.
Job Responsibility:
Own and lead the end-to-end circuit order lifecycle across Backhaul, Enterprise, and National Core, ensuring alignment to delivery timelines and business priorities
Provide technical leadership and direction to internal teams and external vendors, including managed service providers, to drive order execution and fulfillment
Establish and maintain standardized processes, tools, and governance for order management to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability
Deliver executive-level reporting on order status, risks, dependencies, and performance metrics
communicate insights and drive accountability
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks impacting circuit delivery
lead resolution of complex, cross-functional issues
Influence and align stakeholders across engineering, operations, sourcing, and vendor management to meet service and delivery objectives
Analyze order performance data and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies
Ensure compliance with internal policies, vendor contracts, and regulatory requirements throughout the order lifecycle
Partner with network engineering and planning teams to align order execution with design, capacity, and infrastructure strategies
Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for order management processes, tools, and vendor performance
Perform other duties or projects as assigned by business management
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree plus 7 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 5 years of related experience
Acceptable areas of study include Engineering/Computer Science
