Job Description:

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - External Communications to support delivery of external communications systems within the Submarine Combat Systems domain on the Dreadnought Programme.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead systems engineering activities for maritime external communications systems
  • Derive and manage technical and functional requirements from User Needs, CONOPS and CONUSE
  • Define system architectures, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
  • Provide technical authority, SME input, and guidance across design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning
  • Support supplier management, verification, testing, and customer acceptance
  • Identify engineering risks, report progress, and support recovery and change activities

Requirements:

  • Strong background in maritime defence external communications systems
  • Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
  • Platform and ideally sea-going experience (build, trials, operations, or in-service support)
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills
  • Strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE

  • Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities
