The Principal Engineer will lead the delivery of medium to large and complex marine warranty survey (MWS) renewable installation projects. You will focus on the transport and installation of subsea power cables, including responsibility for technical document review and the management of defined project packages or full project scopes. Additionally, you will support the development of the wider energy business, providing technical leadership, and mentoring support to other engineers.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver MWS and engineering scopes, including defining deliverables, schedules, and resourcing for assigned projects
Manage projects and client relationships, maintaining clear oversight of project objectives and outcomes
Review and verify engineering calculations, method statements, and analyses in line with international codes and standards
Lead and coordinate engineers and project personnel to deliver work on schedule, within budget, and to required quality and HSE standards
Maintain accountability for MWS and engineering integrity, including forecasting, change management, corrective actions, and real-time scheduling
Develop, manage, and control project budgets and ensure accurate project tracking
Ensure all project activities comply with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements
Participate in design reviews, audits, and engineering reviews related to MWS projects
Liaise with clients and third parties to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction
Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and personnel, including those new to subsea power cable MWS activities
Prepare proposals, tender inputs, and support business development and bid-winning activities
Promote and ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) requirements across all project activities
Requirements:
Degree-level qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
Approximately 15 years' professional experience with offshore power cables
Knowledge of MWS principles, industry standards, and regulatory codes, with the ability to apply these to power cable analysis and design
Offshore operational experience
Working knowledge of standards such as DNV-ST-N001, DNV-RP-0360, DNV-ST-0539, CIGRE, and ICPC recommendations are desirable
