Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to drive the architecture strategy for Wells Fargo Debit Card technology. The Principal Engineer will be a member of the Architecture & Engineering team within Consumer and Gen AI Technology. This is a high-impact leadership position where you will architect transformative solutions that drive business growth, while mentoring talented developers. You will have the autonomy to influence our technical roadmap and implement cutting-edge technologies that deliver exceptional banking experiences in support of Wells Fargo customers.

Job Responsibility:

Design scalable and secure banking systems
Act as a technology advisor to engineering leaders
Translate advanced technology experience into strategic technical engineering solutions
Lead technical design discussions and drive consensus on complex architectural decisions
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to teams of architects and engineers
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs
Contribute to the development of engineering best practices, coding standards, and development workflows
Identify and resolve critical technical challenges through innovative problem-solving
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, security, and performance
Participate in strategic planning to align technology roadmaps with business objectives
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to maintain competitive advantage

Requirements:

7+ years of Engineering experience
5+ years of experience in systems, applications, or architecture planning
3+ years of Financial Services industry experience
3+ years designing technology solutions for partner software development teams
Knowledge and experience with consumer banking solutions, preferably in Debit Card technology
Experience in Cloud, Data, DevSecOps, Domain Driven Design, C4 or Archimate, Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF), and Agile
Ability to design at multiple levels of the technology stack
Research and analysis including Competitive Analysis and evaluation of third-party technical products
Architecture strategy and road mapping
Adaptive communication skills
Ability to partner with many different platform engineering and architecture teams
Ability to influence across all organizational levels
Establish trusted relationships and provide mentorship to other architects and engineers

Nice to have:

Knowledge and experience with consumer banking solutions, preferably in Debit Card technology
Experience in Cloud, Data, DevSecOps, Domain Driven Design, C4 or Archimate, Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF), and Agile
