Join BMT Singapore as a Principal Consultant Engineer and Team Leader, supporting our Maritime team and wider Singapore and Australia business. This role is ideal for an experienced maritime engineering leader with a passion for growth, a background in consulting and seeking to make an impact on a global scale. Our Singapore team works on a diverse portfolio of projects, providing technical expertise in the engineering design of maritime civil structures such as jetties, wharves, breakwaters, quay walls, and coastal protection works—from concept through detailed design. We proudly champion innovative and sustainable solutions, including nature-based designs and climate resilience measures, aligned with industry best practices. You will be based in our Singapore office on Alexandra Road, working in a hybrid model. Please note that travel to customer sites or in-person meetings will be required.
Job Responsibility:
Apply a business development mindset: understand markets and customers, identify opportunities, and shape proposals to improve win rates
Be accountable for work-winning actions: support negotiations, secure opportunities, and manage a pipeline in line with budgets
Lead with a focus on building a positive, high-performing, and inclusive team culture
Line manage team members, including performance reviews, career development, and wellbeing
Assist with the management and delivery of projects covering the whole life cycle of civil and structural design of marine infrastructure development. Including site selection, feasibility and concept studies, basic or front-end engineering design with bid documents, detailed design, construction supports and managements
Be exposed to the project delivery of dredging, site investigations and surveys, geotechnical engineering, and hydrographic surveys
Perform professional technical work independently, with a focus on structural design for marine and maritime structures
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including geotechnical, meteorological, oceanographic, environmental engineers and M&E works —to deliver integrated solutions for clients
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience and passion for growth and business development
Proven technical expertise in maritime or coastal engineering with 10-15 years prior experience in the industry
Strong understanding of consultancy operations, including work-winning and project delivery
Previous experience in an engineering consultancy environment
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred
Experience across the full project lifecycle: site selection, environmental investigations, design development, permitting, construction, and operations
