Job Description:

Principal Engineer specializing in VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Storage, and Compute platforms. Lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge virtualization and container orchestration platforms that underpin enterprise compute infrastructure.

Job Responsibility:

Strategic Platform Design & Build
Drive end-to-end designs for highly scalable, hybrid virtualization and container platforms
Partner with Distinguished Engineers and Architects to shape long-term infrastructure modernization roadmap
Champion best practices for high-availability, performance, security, and cost optimization
Platform Development & Automation
Oversee design and development of new container-native platforms
Implement robust GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment strategies
Hybrid Infrastructure & Emerging Technologies
Provide thought leadership on modern containerization and traditional virtualization
Evaluate, recommend, and build emerging platform technologies
Cross-Functional Leadership & Mentoring
Serve as key technical resource
Perform as technical leader and support platform engineers, SREs, and operational teams
Enterprise Governance & Operations
Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards and compliance requirements
Guide compliance with internal governance frameworks

Requirements:

10+ years experience in large-scale enterprise virtualization and container environments
Experience in VMware vSphere Platform: vCenter Server, ESXi hypervisor, vSAN storage, NSX-T networking, vRealize Suite
Experience in Kubernetes Core Technologies: Container runtimes, CNI plugins, CSI storage drivers, custom resource definitions
Experience in OpenShift Platform: OpenShift Container Platform, OpenShift Virtualization, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management
Experience in OpenShift Virtualization (CNV): KubeVirt integration, VM lifecycle management, live migration capabilities
Experience in Container Orchestration: Multi-cluster management, cluster autoscaling, workload scheduling
Experience in Infrastructure Automation: Terraform/Terragrunt, Ansible, Helm charts, Kustomize
Experience in CI/CD & GitOps: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Flux
Experience in Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry
Experience in Storage & Networking: VMware vSAN, Kubernetes persistent volumes, software-defined networking
Experience in Security & Compliance: Pod Security Standards, NetworkPolicies, RBAC implementation
Experience in Backup & Disaster Recovery: Velero for Kubernetes backups, VMware vSphere Replication
Experience in IaaS Platform Development: Ground-up design of Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
