Principal Building Control Surveyor

• Support the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services across a complex and evolving regulatory environment
• Ensure compliance with current building regulations and associated legislation, including health and safety and licensing requirements
• Contribute to service performance, supporting budget monitoring, and helping to deliver local and national targets
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, elected members, and external partners
• Help shape service delivery, promote continuous improvement, and support the management of small teams where required
• Use a range of digital systems, including planning, EDRMS, and GIS platforms, to support efficient and effective service delivery

• Strong technical knowledge of building regulations, private sector building control, and related legislation
• significant post-qualification experience, including experience of managing small teams and delivering performance targets
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• highly organised, able to prioritise workloads to meet strict deadlines
• proactive approach, with the ability to develop new ideas
• BSCF accreditation (Class 2D as a minimum)
• a degree or equivalent qualification in a related subject
• membership of a relevant professional body
• Additional qualifications or corporate membership of organisations such as ABE or RICS would be advantageous
