Job Description:

Principal Associate role within the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) team at Capital One. The team partners primarily with the Small Business Bank team to manage CDFI relationships, originate capital, service and monitor the portfolio. The role is part of the Community Finance team which originates debt and equity to support affordable housing development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage relationships, originate new money loans and renewals
  • Partner with other team members and program stakeholders on driving strategic business direction
  • Challenge current well-managed processes to ensure they are scalable and effective
  • Drive operational excellence for Capital One’s CDFI program
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
  • Exercise judgment and critical thinking to problem-solve challenges
  • Provide transparency to stakeholders on progress, outcomes, and improvement opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in credit, lending, relationship management, or any combination of the three
  • At least 1 year of experience with mission-driven lending or investments or community development lending or investments

Nice to have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in program management, CDFI, small business lending, or any combination of the three
  • Experience collaborating with and coordinating a variety of stakeholders, including more senior stakeholders
  • Completion of formal credit training program, or equivalent work experience
