Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Application Network Architect responsible for Solution Architecture and Governance across Application Hosting Networks, Container Networks, Service Mesh Networking, and Application Observability. The role includes creating business value solutions, influencing executives and engineers, driving product direction, and leading cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibility:

Acts as a subject matter expert to the organization for application network infrastructure architecture
Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Development and Maintenance of architecture solutions such as reference architecture, white paper, product strategy, product to services roadmap
Advocate and define architectural vision for Wells Fargo's application network environment
Design, configure and implement fully automated workflow for provisioning and maintaining application network services using infrastructure as a code solution integrated with common control planes
Provides leadership and mentoring to Architects and engineers to grow architecture talent
Lead strategic planning and architectural planning for infrastructure technologies

Requirements:

7+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
7+ years of infrastructure architecture experience in modernizing technology infrastructure landscape
3+ years of experience researching new technologies, performing proof-of-concepts, and recommending solutions

Nice to have:

Well versed in modern networking constructs such as container networking interfaces, service mesh, reverse proxy to support api and web applications, zero trust, end to end application observability and cloud compute
Demonstrable experience in Data Center migration and related tooling
Networking specific certifications, e.g. OpenShift, AWS, GCP, Azure
Hands on knowledge to with Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy, SPIFFE, SPIRE and OPA, OpenShift Container Platform, Application logging and tracing, and observability
Hands on knowledge with layer 7 authorization and micro-segmentation to support application security
Familiar and hands-on experience with infrastructure as code via CI/CD and automation tools like Github Actions, Jenkins, Harness CD
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience working in an agile, product-oriented structure
Ability to interact with all levels with the organization
Strong comprehension within the network, compute and storage domains
