Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Advisor – Strategy & Enterprise Transformation to support Aurizon’s enterprise strategy and transformation agenda. Reporting to the Strategy Manager, this senior advisory role partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board and key stakeholders to shape enterprise strategy, identify growth opportunities and drive performance improvement across the organisation. This role is suited to a commercially astute strategic leader who thrives in complexity, brings strong judgement, and can translate strategic intent into practical, value‑creating outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide high‑level strategic advice to senior leaders and stakeholders to support enterprise‑wide decision‑making
  • Support the development, refresh and execution of Aurizon’s enterprise and business unit strategies
  • Undertake deep financial, commercial and qualitative analysis to identify value creation and performance improvement opportunities
  • Evaluate growth opportunities, market trends and portfolio options to inform strategic direction
  • Support early‑stage business development and major initiatives, including business case development and investment prioritisation
  • Develop high‑quality strategic documentation, including board papers, strategy papers and executive presentations
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions, workshops and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Monitor strategic initiatives and KPIs, identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Build strong relationships across the enterprise to support alignment and delivery of strategic outcomes

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Economics, Strategy or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in enterprise strategy, business planning and performance improvement
  • Strong background in financial, commercial and qualitative analysis
  • Demonstrated experience developing business cases and supporting strategic investment decisions
  • Ability to synthesise complex information and present clear, compelling recommendations
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in large, complex organisations

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Industrials or related sectors is advantageous
  • Experience in digital strategy, transformation or AI‑enabled initiatives is desirable
