Job Description:

Primary Teacher Opportunity at a leading independent specialist day school in Mitcham, South London, providing high-quality education for boys and girls aged 4-12 with a primary diagnosis of Autism (ASD) and additional needs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver a personalised curriculum that meets the diverse learning needs of pupils aged 4-12, with a strong focus on Key Stage 2 experience
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons that support educational progress and enhance social communication skills
  • Work collaboratively with a dedicated staff team and extensive Teaching Assistant (TA) support in classes to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships with pupils, fostering their confidence and encouraging friendships
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with parents and carers, providing updates on progress and offering advice and support

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of and experience with Autism (ASD), MLD, SLD, and SLCN
  • Proven Key Stage 2 experience
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to teaching
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
