This part-time position begins in September 2026, requiring a fixed commitment of three days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Working alongside a collaborative job-share partner, you will lead a wonderful Year 2 cohort through their final year of Key Stage 1, ensuring consistency, high-quality learning, and a smooth educational journey.
Job Responsibility
Collaborative Lesson Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach creative, engaging lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum on your designated days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
Seamless Job-Share Partnership: Maintain meticulous handover notes and open communication with your classroom job-share partner to ensure complete continuity in tracking pupil progress and curriculum coverage
Phonics & Reading Development: Deliver systematic synthetic phonics and guided reading strategies to expand vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and foster independent reading habits
Progress Assessment: Utilise formative and summative assessments to monitor pupil milestones in reading, writing, and mathematics, tailoring support to stretch higher-attainers and lift lower-ability pupils
Inclusive Classroom Leadership: Manage and deploy classroom Teaching Assistants effectively, ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) receive targeted, integrated guidance
Community Engagement: Foster a warm, structured, and positive classroom culture, maintaining welcoming and professional communication with parents and carers
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A proven track record of teaching primary education within a UK school setting. (Key Stage 1 or Year 2 specific experience is highly advantageous)
Deep KS1 Framework Knowledge: A strong understanding of early childhood pedagogy, phonics screening frameworks, and effective primary numeracy strategies
Fixed Part-Time Availability: The strict professional reliability to commit to a full-day schedule every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for the duration of the academic year
Exceptional Classroom Management: The ability to seamlessly step into an established school structure, establishing clear routines and a supportive environment from day one
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
