Job Description
Robert Barclay Academy is part of Scholars' Education Trust. We are seeking an exceptional primary practitioner to join our SEND team within a secondary school setting, with a clear and powerful mission: to ensure that our most vulnerable students are ready to thrive. This is a unique and rewarding role, perfectly suited to a primary specialist who understands the critical importance of curriculum readiness, phonics, reading development and numeracy. We know that literacy and numeracy are the gateway to learning. Without it, students struggle to access the full richness of a secondary curriculum. In this role, you will directly tackle that barrier, changing life chances by ensuring students can succeed through small group interventions. We are looking for a skilled and committed primary practitioner, with strong subject knowledge of early reading, phonics and numeracy interventions and strategies. You will have a strong understanding of how to diagnose gaps and deliver precise and impactful intervention. You will feel passionate about inclusion and social mobility, particularly for our vulnerable learners and thrive in collaborative environment, shaping provision across phases. We are at a genuinely exciting stage in our journey. In March 2023, Ofsted judged Robert Barclay Academy to be 'Good' in all areas, recognising the rapid and sustained improvement across the school. Parent feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with Ofsted Parent View reflecting strong confidence in the school's direction and leadership. We are a school on the rise and as result of our rapidly improving reputation, the school is expanding due to increased pupil numbers. The successful candidate will be joining an experienced and well-established SEND team, one that embraces our Apple School status. We place professional development at the heart of what we do. Staff benefit from an innovative induction programme and a comprehensive professional learning offer, both within Robert Barclay Academy and across the Trust, because we believe that investing in our people is the key to our success. If you have the energy, drive and vision to improve our provision in a thriving and improving school, we would be delighted to receive your application.
