Job Responsibility

  • Support the class teacher by setting up learning environments and managing classroom materials
  • Run targeted phonic, reading, and basic numeracy intervention groups for Key Stage 1 or 2
  • Assist children with special educational needs (SEND), ensuring they can access the full curriculum safely
  • Promote positive behaviour through praise, encouragement, and clear boundaries
  • Help supervise pupils during break times, lunch hours, and off-site educational visits
  • Log progress notes and provide daily verbal handovers to teachers and pastoral teams

Requirements

  • Practical experience working alongside children, ideally within a primary school or early years setting
  • A patient, enthusiastic, and highly proactive approach to supporting group learning
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE English and Math at grade C/4 or above)
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check or a willingness to complete one immediately through Randstad
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build quick, trusted rapport with pupils and staff
