We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Primary Mental Health Practitioner to join our CAMHS Primary Mental Health Service in Sheffield. You'll work both independently and collaboratively across communities, supporting young people and families in partnership with local authorities and third-sector organisations. This role is deeply rooted in early intervention and prevention--making a difference, right from the start. We're looking for someone with solid experience in child and adolescent mental health and a diverse therapeutic toolkit. You'll excel in a role that values autonomy and creativity, and offers scope to influence service development.
Job Responsibility:
Be the first contact for referrals into the service
Conduct clinical consultations and assessments
Collaboratively produce tailored support plans
Offer advice, screening, and signposting to appropriate services
Signpost to relevant services, resources, or therapeutic interventions
Collaborate with different professionals across sectors
Support staff in their work with young people by offering guidance
Promote holistic and integrated care approaches
Requirements:
Current RMN / RN (Mental Health), Social Work, Occupational Therapy or therapeutic professional qualification at degree level
Post registration clinical training relevant to CAMHS/Mental Health
Evidence of continuing professional development
Significant post registration experience within a CAMHS/Mental Health Setting
Utilisation of research in practice
Experience of autonomous working around children's mental health
Knowledge of current CAMHS practice/issues, including knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions
Understanding of safeguarding procedures and Legal Frameworks relevant to CAMHS
The ability to demonstrate empathy, active listening and provision of advice
Able to work within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating professionalism, respect and cooperation
Ability to build relationships and rapport with young people and their families quickly
Ability to manage challenging situations and expectations
Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative and prioritise workload
IT literate including sound knowledge of MS Office software such as
Excel, PowerPoint etc
Flexible approach to work with a desire to make positive changes to practice
Ability to work effectively within a team, developing positive relationships with others and working collaboratively to achieve shared goals and objectives
Be able to travel to attend home visits, TAF meetings and schools
Passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can fully participate and thrive
Nice to have:
Conflict resolution training
Hold a current UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to enable attendance at home visits, TAF meetings and schools
Experience of delivering consultations to other professionals or helping them formulate and understand children's mental health needs
Experience of designing and delivering training, adapting for different learning styles
Specific clinical interventions/ strategies, including Systemic Intervention, Emotion Coaching, EMDR, CBT, DBT, IPT
