The Primary Care Physician will provide direct patient care to adolescent and adult patients. This responsibility includes the provision of and attention to the care of major and minor illnesses, to long range issues of health and disease and to the needs for specialty consultation. Physician shall report to the Chief Medical Officer on issues related to medical care and treatment. Receives administrative supervision from a Practice Manager. Instill the IMS mission, vision and values in the work performed.
Job Responsibility:
Assess health status of adolescent or adult patients through health history, taking physical examination and diagnostic tests
Develop and implement plans for providing treatment of illness and preventive services
Provide for comprehensive primary care services in a primary medical care clinic setting
Perform minor outpatient procedures in accordance with IMS credentialing/privileging policy
Assess patient needs and arrange for specialty referrals, diagnostic and in-patient care and make appropriate referrals for service
Responsible for documenting patient information and visit information into IMS’ Electronic Health Record in an accurate and timely manner
Provide patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit
Verify and document that the patient understands diagnosis, treatment and follow up recommendations
Provide consultation to nurse clinicians and nurse practitioners
Works independently using his or her best professional judgment while practicing medicine
Works interdependently with other health care providers and health care staff in a team environment
May serve as a preceptor to residents and students
Assists the Chief Medical Officer in the development and updating of medical and other policies, guidelines, and medical orders used in the delivery of health care to patients
Perform other duties as assigned
Renders care to IMS patients in accordance with quality and standards as are established by IMS, the standards of care prevailing in the community, applicable law, and according to state and federal grant requirements for non-discrimination regardless of status, race, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay
Requirements:
One year of post full licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine
Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Arizona
Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion
Must have knowledge of and follow HIPAA guidelines and secure Protected Health Information at all times
Must be able to perform CPR on infants, children, and adults without assistance
The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
