Job Responsibility

  • Maintains building mechanical systems by inspection, performing prescribed maintenance tasks and reporting abnormal conditions
  • Performs all required inspections of building mechanical equipment and components, ensuring that equipment is in safe and efficient operating condition
  • Recommends alterations to equipment and changes in procedures to facilitate maintenance
  • Tests static and dynamic balance and vibration, current draw and temperatures
  • tests for leaks
  • Reports abnormal conditions for further action
  • Replaces and aligns belts and couplers, replaces pulleys
  • Makes minor adjustments, including tightening nuts, bolts and screws
  • Lubricates equipment and components
  • Cleans and replaces filters
  • Cleans and paints equipment and components and mechanical areas
  • seals mechanical area floors
  • Keeps records and makes reports of maintenance performed, condition of equipment, repairs needed, materials used and the like

Requirements

  • High School education plus 3-5 years experience as a general maintenance mechanic or 2-3 years experience as a mechanic, preventive maintenance mechanic
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Environmental Protection Agency Refrigerant Certification required
