The Preventative Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities, systems, and equipment to ensure optimal performance and guest comfort. This role focuses on proactive inspections, repairs, and scheduled maintenance to uphold the safety, efficiency, and luxury standards of the property.
Job Responsibility:
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and guest room systems
Ensure all equipment and systems operate efficiently and meet safety regulations
Complete guest room preventive maintenance programs, including lighting, fixtures, furnishings, and appliances
Document all maintenance activities, inspections, and completed work orders in the hotel’s maintenance system
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and assist with emergency repairs as needed
Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with OSHA, brand, and local safety standards
Conduct safety checks on fire suppression, alarms, and life safety systems
Ensure compliance with all environmental and sustainability policies
Work collaboratively with Engineering leadership and other departments to support hotel operations
Communicate effectively with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage to minimize service disruptions
Assist in training new maintenance staff as assigned
Maintain tools, work areas, and storage rooms in clean, organized condition
Monitor and report equipment conditions that require major repairs or replacements
Support special projects, renovations, and capital improvements as directed
Requirements:
Previous experience in hotel engineering, maintenance, or facilities operations required
luxury or upscale property experience preferred
Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
EPA or HVAC certification a plus
Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
Able to lift or move up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working in varying conditions (hot, cold, confined spaces)
Nice to have:
