Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Prevailing Wage Specialist to support payroll compliance for public works and government-funded construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring employees and subcontractors are paid in accordance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage regulations and for maintaining accurate certified payroll documentation. Prevailing wage laws require contractors working on public projects to pay workers government-mandated wage rates based on job classification and geographic area. This position works closely with payroll, accounting, project management, and subcontractors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare, review, and submit weekly certified payroll reports for public works projects
  • Review employee classifications, wage rates, fringe benefits, and overtime calculations
  • Maintain detailed payroll and labor compliance records for audits
  • Monitor subcontractor certified payroll submissions and follow up on discrepancies
  • Audit payroll records to verify accurate wage payments and job classifications
  • Support responses to government agencies, labor compliance officers, or auditors
  • Maintain prevailing wage determinations and project documentation
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations and reporting
  • Partner with HR and project teams to resolve wage compliance issues
