Job Responsibility:

  • Being responsible for national media relations on all topics relevant to the organisation and ensuring high media visibility for our campaigns, our animal welfare work, and our policy advocacy – both proactively and reactively
  • Developing and implementing press strategies to support FOUR PAWS’ campaign goals, creating press releases, statements, invitations, and other content for national and international topics
  • Coordinating and responding to media inquiries, preparing interviews, and supporting colleagues from other departments with their press relations
  • Handling press relations at events such as protests, press trips, and press conferences, as well as crisis communication when necessary
  • Monitoring the media landscape, analysing trends, developing recommendations for action, and ensuring that FOUR PAWS’ press relations are as effective as possible
  • Maintaining our network of journalists and media partners and continuously expanding it
  • Helping build the Influencer Relations division, establishing and carrying out collaborations

Requirements:

  • Several years of journalistic experience and in-depth knowledge of press and media relations
  • Experience in developing and implementing communication and media strategies, ideally on sociopolitical and animal welfare issues
  • Ability to identify appropriate occasions, timing, and target audiences to position FOUR PAWS’ topics and causes in the media and develop the corresponding storytelling to engage media representatives
  • A comprehensive understanding of press and public relations, and consideration of stakeholders beyond traditional editorial offices
  • Confidence in crises and a strong understanding of effective crisis communication
  • Precise and clear writing skills, with the ability to tailor messages to target audiences in German, supported by a strong command of language and excellent written communication skills
  • A creative, systematic, and reliable working style, both independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in German & English
