The Preschool Enrichment Classroom Lead, under the guidance of the Preschool Enrichment Coordinator, is responsible for planning and delivering a developmentally appropriate preschool program aligned with the Preschool Enrichment curriculum in their assigned classroom(s). This role oversees the daily experiences, learning, supervision, and well-being of preschoolers while fostering a positive, nurturing classroom environment. The Classroom Lead supports classroom staff, maintains regular communication with families, and ensures compliance with Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing regulations. Additional duties include supervising lunch and recess, managing class transitions (including bus drop-off and pick-up), maintaining the daily schedule, and tracking attendance. The Classroom Lead collaborates closely with the preschool team and broader school community to support effective program operations for students and families.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program that is aligned to the Early Childhood Education curriculum and provides students with enrichment opportunities
Engage students in enrichment topics that follow the established curriculum and also take into account student interests, abilities, and needs
Create an inclusive learning environment that supports early intervention, referral for academic, social-emotional, and/or human services when necessary, and an understanding and appreciation of culturally and linguistically diverse student and family needs
Oversee classroom functions and operations under the direct supervision of the Preschool Enrichment Coordinator
Take attendance and ensure student safety and security at all times
Ensure daily safety of children, monitor staff-to-child ratio, effectively handle student discipline by establishing and maintaining clear, consistent and fair limits on children’s behavior and implement and maintain positive guidance and discipline techniques set by the program
Create a warm, friendly and cooperative environment in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
Safely and effectively manage the learning environment through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper maintenance of equipment
Responsible for direct communication with parents about student progress
Follow and uphold licensing guidelines set by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood, local County Health Department and School District policies and procedures
Complete administrative records such as enrollment forms, student behavior plans, medication administration, injury/accident/lost child reports and attendance
Oversee and guide staff assigned to the classroom and ensure a clear schedule and responsibilities are outlined
Lead support for implementing positive behavior management plan, resolving concerns and conducting parent meetings
Participate in trainings and professional learning opportunities that allow for continued licensure and growth
Remain current on all required trainings and total number of training hours required by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood
Remain current and update staff on licensing rules & regulation changes
Work collaboratively as an integral member of the preschool team
Establish and maintain regular and open communication with parents regarding their child's accomplishments, interests, peer relationships and overall progress in the program. Promptly return all calls and emails
Provide parents with an electronic newsletter at least once a month
Provide accurate and timely information to Preschool Enrichment Coordinator
Maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior and professionalism
Create positive working relationships with school personnel, parents, and community
Utilize computer and software applications (Google) for daily classroom operations such as attendance, enrollment information, required trainings, timesheets, and newsletters
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Large Center Director qualified as established under Colorado Code of Regulations (7.702.42 A) or be able to obtain within one year of hiring date
OR Currently hold and maintain the Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualification as established by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood
Must be able to lift 50 pounds to assist children in toileting along with delegated health care duties
Complete and submitted BVSD online application
Communicate (read, write and speak) in English
Nice to have:
Strong knowledge in Early Childhood Education and best practices including children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development as well as children with special needs
Knowledge and skill in classroom management tools, including supporting children with special needs
Ability to mentor, communicate orally and written, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse educational backgrounds
General knowledge of the State of Colorado Child Care Licensing rules and regulations and county health department guidelines
Supervisory and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
