Prep Cooks provide foundational support to the Culinary team by preparing ingredients, organizing supplies, and ensuring all stations are ready for service. They follow standardized recipes, portioning, and safety procedures to maintain consistency and quality throughout the kitchen. Prep Cooks uphold Legends’ standards by keeping prep areas organized, sanitized, and fully stocked during event operations.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and production requirements
Wash, chop, measure, and organize food items for service
Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas, coolers, and storage
Assist cooks and chefs with bulk production, setup, and plating
Label, date, and store food items following FIFO and temperature control standards
Operate kitchen tools and equipment safely, including knives, mixers, and slicers
Minimize waste and monitor product quality
Follow all Legends health, safety, and sanitation procedures
Communicate with supervisors about stock shortages or quality issues
Requirements:
Food Handlers Certification required
Minimum 1 year of kitchen or food preparation experience
Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Basic culinary knowledge and knife-handling proficiency
Ability to follow direction and work efficiently in a team environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
Reliable, punctual, and focused on quality outcomes
Standing and walking for extended periods
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds
Bending, reaching, and repetitive motions throughout shifts
Exposure to varying kitchen temperatures and equipment noise
Requires clear vision and communication for safety and accuracy
