Job Description:

PreOp/PACU RNs are an integral part of the surgical team, providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases. Their role requires a high level of accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment. PreOp/PACU RNs are responsible for ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery. Their ability to maintain a professional approach while providing nursing care is critical in ensuring positive patient outcomes while keeping patients and their families informed. Will work directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op. Job Responsibility:

  • Providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases
  • Ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care during surgery
  • Maintaining a professional approach while providing nursing care
  • Keeping patients and their families informed
  • Working directly with surgeons, medical/surgical staff and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op
  • Providing continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition
  • Providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times
  • May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate
  • Provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation
  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
  • Active RN license in the state New Jersey
  • BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center
  • 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
  • Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
  • Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
