As our Premises Maintenance Technician, you will support the Estates and Premises Team in maintaining a safe, compliant and operational estate across the College. The role will place particular emphasis on supporting the delivery of statutory compliance regimes, including inspection, testing and record keeping associated with building systems, fixtures, fittings, plant and equipment. The post holder will undertake a range of planned, reactive and preventative maintenance activities associated with their trade, ensuring that buildings, infrastructure and systems remain safe, operational and compliant with relevant legislation, guidance and College procedures.
Job Responsibility:
Undertake routine statutory inspections and testing activities where trained and authorised (for example emergency lighting tests, fire door inspections, water temperature monitoring, alarm checks, and other compliance checks as required)
Undertake the repair, installation and routine maintenance of building fabric, fixtures, fittings, equipment and plant across the College estate
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to support the safe operation and longevity of building systems and equipment
Utilise College IT systems and maintenance management systems to record work undertaken and support service delivery
Raise requisitions for materials, equipment and maintenance works in line with College procedures
Work closely with the Premises Supervisors and Estates Management Team to prioritise and complete assigned tasks
Support Estates Management in preparing inspection schedules, compliance registers and remedial action plans
Monitor contractor activities relating to statutory testing to ensure works are completed in accordance with legislative requirements and College procedures
Promote the College’s student-first ethos, ensuring the student experience remains central to service delivery
Deliver an excellent customer service experience to internal customers and service users at all times
Requirements:
Hold a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in a relevant Trade
Minimum of Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy, or be willing to work towards this qualification
Experience of working in a customer centred environment
Be able to undertake minor repairs and installation appropriate to relevant trade
Ability to work flexible hours and patterns, weekends and callouts
Good communication skills - oral and written
