Requirements

B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
5+ years of experience as an Estimator with a commercial general contractor
7+ years working for a General Contractor(s) in an Estimator or Project Manager career track
previous experience would include Office Engineer, Project Engineer, Estimator, Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in the commercial building construction industry
High proficiency in estimating applications necessary
Integrity, tenacity, demonstrated ability to succeed, and the attitude to do what it takes to meet and/or exceed client expectations

Job Responsibility

Analyze and evaluate historical cost data to determine pricing
Build estimates based on an understanding of design, constructability, and sequencing of a project
Prepare detailed estimate of entire scope of assigned trades, building system, and/or overall project cost
Prepare accurate quantity take-offs of all building and site work components
Prepare and solicit bid requests for subcontractor
Participate in post-bid revisions, meetings, and negotiations
Analyze existing site conditions and all contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope that is not indicated
Work with Operations and fellow Preconstruction Managers to ensure general conditions and general requirements items are properly addressed in estimate

Job Responsibility

Lead cross-functional teams in preparing deliverables during preconstruction – including Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents culminating in a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), as well as an occasional hard bid
Support Operations during buy-outs, change order reviews, and final project reviews when necessary
Reviews contract documents and attends/facilitates all pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Reviews and incorporates historical data from prior project estimates, purchase agreements and subcontracts in order to gain information for current project estimates
Leads in preparing estimates for assigned divisions
Oversees team in soliciting subcontractor/vendor pricing information
Attends regular meetings and helps coordinate the design process in preparation for deliverables during preconstruction
Develops schedule of values, assumptions and clarifications, value engineering, and document control log for proposal submissions
Facilitates Preconstruction team in preparation for bid day
Coordinates with Proposal Department for development of technical portion of proposal submissions

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience is preferred
12-15 years' experience working in construction, preferably experience with a General Contractor or Mechanical, Electrical or contractor or MEP engineering firm
