Job Description:

As a Precision Machining Apprentice, you’ll learn how to operate a wide range of manual and CNC machinery, working with materials that include metals, non-metallics, fissile materials, and explosives. You’ll develop the skills to manufacture high-precision components that meet exacting standards. On successful completion, you’ll become a Craft Machinist; a skilled professional able to operate a variety of machine tools across different workshop environments, contributing directly to our mission.

Job Responsibility:

  • Learn how to operate a wide range of manual and CNC machinery
  • Work with materials that include metals, non-metallics, fissile materials, and explosives
  • Manufacture high-precision components that meet exacting standards
  • Build essential hand-fitting and machining skills by creating real engineering tools
  • In years 3-4, move into on-site placements, taking on more advanced machining tasks
  • Build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and behaviours
  • Operate your own machines to manufacture parts which will fit together with other team members parts

Requirements:

  • Five GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above to include Maths and English
  • Applicants must be aged 16 or over, as of 31st August 2026
  • You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance
