Job Responsibility
Lead the unit day-to-day, ensuring safe, efficient patient flow from admission to discharge
Take clinical leadership in post-anaesthetic recovery
Recognise and respond to acute deterioration, leading emergency situations when needed
Develop and lead a high-quality Pre-Operative Assessment service
Support, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary clinical team
Work closely with consultants, anaesthetists, and theatre teams
Drive continuous improvement, governance, and patient safety standards
Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC)
Strong surgical background
Experience in post-op care, day surgery, or inpatient surgical settings
Additional experience in Recovery, HDU, or ITU will be highly advantageous
Previous Band 6 (or equivalent) experience minimum – ready to step up or already operating at Band 7
Confident in leading teams and managing acute clinical situation
Willingness to complete Advanced Life Support (ALS) and be part of the Resus team

Additional experience in Recovery, HDU, or ITU
