Make a meaningful difference in the Gippsland community by helping individuals and families secure safe and stable housing. As a PRAP Plus Outreach Worker, you will work directly with people experiencing housing instability, providing outreach support, case management and tenancy advocacy to help them access and maintain private rental housing. Working within the Private Rental Assistance Program (PRAP), you will support renters whose tenancies are at risk, assist people transitioning into private rental housing and help prevent homelessness through early intervention and practical support.
Job Responsibility:
Engage with renters whose tenancies are at risk and provide early intervention support
Supporting individuals and families to access and sustain private rental accommodation
Developing client-centred support plans to address barriers to housing stability
Assisting clients with rental applications and tenancy processes
Advocating for clients with real estate agents, landlords and at VCAT when required
Providing brokerage assistance for housing-related costs such as bond, rent in advance, removalists, utilities or essential items
Coordinating referrals to community, health and support services
Building relationships with real estate agents, landlords and community organisations to strengthen housing pathways
Participating in local networks and promoting program services within the community
Maintaining accurate client records and program reporting
Requirements:
Minimum Diploma of Community Services or relevant qualification and/or experience
Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
Current Working with Children Check (Employee)
Current National Police Check
Experience providing case management or support to individuals and families experiencing vulnerability
Knowledge of housing instability, homelessness or the private rental system
Understanding of tenancy processes and renter rights and responsibilities
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build relationships with community services and property managers
Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
