Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure service users are fully engaged in their care pathway and receive high-quality, person-centred treatment. Job Responsibility

  • Support the provision of psychology services in a specified area, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and under the direction and supervison of a Senior/Principal/Consultant or Lead Psychologist
  • Participate fully with the multidisciplinary team and ensure that the patient is fully engaged in their care pathway
  • Support clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes
  • Support the clinical team and area of service in developing new initiatives and ways of working
  • Work with internal and external agencies to enhance treatment pathways for patients
  • Provide psychological assessments using a range of tools and techniques, integrating complex data to formulate tailored treatment plans
  • Implement individual and group interventions, adjusting and refining formulations to meet patient needs
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, research and audits
  • Support staff development through training programmes and provide supervision to Assistant Psychologists.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Doctorate level qualification in applied psychology either through the British Psychological Society or a recognised training body, enabling registration with the HCPC as as Practitioner Psychologist
  • Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society
  • Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area
  • Competency in psychological assessment and formulation skills and an aptitude for learning new assessment methods
  • Competency with risk assessment, management, and evaluation tools
  • Clinical therapy skills - Experience using different therapeutic approaches to address a range of clinical issues. An awareness of other modalities and how they may be applied to the current service user population.

  • Deliver high-quality, neuroaffirmative Autism and ADHD identification assessments for children (aged 7+) and adults through virtual/remote platforms, in accordance with NICE guidelines
  • Administer, score, and interpret specialist neurodiversity assessment tools, including the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised), as well as validated ADHD assessment measures
  • Conduct thorough initial Neurodiversity Consultations, clarifying presenting concerns, priorities and individual goals in a collaborative, person-centred manner
  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial and multidisciplinary formulations, integrating information from multiple sources including developmental history, observation, standardised assessment, and collateral information
  • Undertake risk screening and safeguarding assessments in line with relevant UK legislation and organisational procedures, with particular attention to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people
  • Identify and communicate relevant reasonable accommodations across educational, workplace, and community settings
  • Produce high-quality written assessment reports that present complex clinical information in a clear, accessible, and strengths-based manner, suitable for individuals, families, and professional stakeholders
  • Deliver clear, sensitive, and neuroaffirmative feedback sessions to individuals and families following assessment completion
  • Hold a designated caseload, acting as lead practitioner and guiding clients through their assessment journey from initial consultation to post-diagnostic support
  • Collaborate closely with MDT colleagues — including SLTs, OTs, and fellow psychologists — to ensure integrated, person-centred assessment formulations
