Job Description:

We are a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice in Thaxted, Essex, seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team on a part-time basis (24 hours/week). Exact days are negotiable and will include a Thursday with a 6.00pm finish. This role is ideal for an experienced practice nurse or a secondary care nurse looking to move into primary care. We are a dispensing GP practice using EMIS Web, with modern premises and a supportive, friendly team. We are a GP training practice, host medical students, and consistently achieve high QOF results and excellent patient feedback. Our patient list is 9,000+ and growing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, respiratory)
  • Cervical smears and contraception services
  • Wound care, suture removal, blood pressure monitoring
  • Routine/childhood immunisations, travel vaccines
  • ECGs, urinalysis, health promotion
  • Participation in clinical meetings
  • Run your own clinics and work closely with GPs, ANPs, ACPs, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, dispensary, and admin staff

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with relevant degree
  • 2+ years post-qualification experience in general practice or equivalent
  • current NMC registration
  • GP nursing foundation course (or equivalent)
  • competence (or willingness to train) in asthma and diabetes clinics
  • Experience: Treatment room consultations, phlebotomy, ECGs, screening, long-term condition management, vaccinations, cervical cytology, minor surgery assistance, wound care
  • Compassionate, empathetic approach
