An established law firm is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in their Wanstead office. This key leadership role requires strong expertise in legal practice management, particularly in finance, compliance, HR, and operations.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage office operations, ensuring efficiency and SRA compliance
  • Oversee budgeting, billing, debt collection, and financial reporting
  • Lead HR functions – recruitment, onboarding, reviews, and staff development
  • Maintain compliance with AML, GDPR, and risk protocols
  • Supervise legal systems (LEAP, Xero, Microsoft 365) and IT infrastructure
  • Develop and implement firm-wide policies and procedures
  • Support fee earners with workflow and operational efficiency
  • Oversee office facilities, supplier contracts, and procurement
  • Handle client queries professionally to maintain strong relationships
  • Report on financial and operational performance to leadership

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Practice or Operations Manager in a law firm (essential)

  • Assist with the review, presentation and development of key themes to support overall Practice performance
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively articulate messaging to a diverse audience with varying levels of financial acumen
  • Participate in substantive and potentially confidential discussions regarding performance at both the practice group and individual levels
  • Identify themes through in-depth discussions on various markets
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration as needed among Business Managers, Finance, BD, HR, etc.
  • Be able to lead discussions, as necessary, with various Leadership levels
  • Analyze key metrics and levers to manage, and improve, performance and convey succinctly to all stakeholders the means and manner to reach high performance
  • Provide detailed analysis and information needed to explain and drive financial initiatives and priorities within and across Practice Groups
  • Through the data analysis, assist in developing clear insights, trends and commentary to highlight the key messages
