We are looking for multiple Practice Leaders in Environment & Geosciences Australia within the following areas: Environmental Assessment and Approvals; Aquatic, Marine, Coastal and Groundwater Ecosystems ( inc Coastal Engineering); Terrestrial Ecology; Rehabilitation and Mine Closure; Contaminated Land; Geotechnical Services. About the role: You will provide technical leadership and advocacy in a national practice area. You will be required to partner with other PLs in the Business Line across Australia, working with the Technical Delivery Leader to share materials, approaches, best practice, and consistency to allow the business to operate as a homogeneous ANZ business. The Practice Leader role is not a stand-alone position, it is a series of value-adding duties (on top of a substantive role) with an expectation that the duties will take, on average, 8 hours per week. Your current position in your discipline and Business Unit will not change.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare a practice delivery plan within the first three months of your appointment, including how you will establish a community of practice for your area
Help manage business risk through the selection of practice reviewers and by ensuring that suitably qualified practitioners are allocated to projects
Identify clients and pursuits in line with strategic objectives to grow market share and increase the reputation of the business for delivery excellence
Work closely with Business Leaders to grow the practice area
Liaise with practitioners and client teams in each region (including Pune) to understand the needs of the clients in this practice area and the local approach to service delivery
Drive the development of guidelines/sample calculations/standards/training/marketing materials to establish best practice approaches
Assist in coordinating and promoting TecEX, encouraging participation from to share their knowledge, experience and technical innovation
Promote the brand of our practice through interaction with clients and participation at industry conferences
Ensuring all work is completed in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
Requirements:
To be considered a technical expert in the practice area with considerable industry recognition
Relevant tertiary qualification
Licenced/chartered (or equivalent and where relevant to the Practice) status with relevant national industry body would be preferred
A minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in the relevant technical discipline
Highly developed interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients
Experience of presenting papers at conferences for the Practice or participation in other industry events
Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to interact with a broad range of audiences
Leadership skills to mentor and motivate employees and to be a role model within the business
Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills.
