In this position, you will lead and manage a team of Arbitration Officers, Hearing Support Officers and Case Support Officers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely and accessible arbitration services. Your work will directly support the fair, informal and cost-effective resolution of workers' compensation disputes.
Job Responsibility
Lead and manage a team of Arbitration Officers, Hearing Support Officers and Case Support Officers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely and accessible arbitration services
Champion best practice in arbitration, ensuring delivery of a consistent and high-quality arbitration service
Work collaboratively with other leaders to identify and actively respond to employee, stakeholder and service challenges
Support and lead the delivery of WIC's organisational strategy
Requirements
Qualification or significant relevant experience in at least one of the following: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Law, Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety, Social Science
Sound knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 (ACA), the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRCA), and the workers compensation scheme in Victoria
Ability to lead arbitration or tribunal hearings consistently in a fair, impartial, and informal manner which are procedurally fair and which establish and maintain the independence and authority of WIC
Appropriate qualifications or experience to conduct arbitrations or tribunal hearings and lead a team of independent statutory decision makers, with appropriate knowledge and high level experience in statutory decision-making
Experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and interpreting legislation within a dispute resolution jurisdiction or framework
Ability to provide written and oral statements reasons for determinations in a well-structured, concise and clear manner and in plain English, demonstrating a clear path of reasoning for the determination that is legally correct
