Job Description:

Responsible for implementation of the Refinish commercial proposition for the Collision across the region. Work in continuous contact with the South African sales team and Automotive Refinish Director to review priorities and country needs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain and develop Collision, in the region
  • Maintain and develop relationships and monitor annual business plan for distributors and their key customers in agreement with the regional sales and Automotive Refinish Director
  • Collaborating closely with Technical Account Managers to support increased SOW gain in existing accounts using approval portfolio and influencer relationships in strategic accounts
  • Through end users visits, continuously improve understanding of customer and product needs and match with PPG product portfolio
  • Introducing new products in customer’s paint process
  • Audit bodyshop and propose corrective actions to improve productivity & quality
  • Strategic focus on winning new business 'hunting' in segment and making sure support infrastructure is put in place to manage those accounts
  • Driving segment pipeline in assigned sales region/sub-region
  • Lead and support new wins conversion
  • Driving high level relationships at target 'top industry' segment customers and collaborating with segment Business Development Managers to maximise these opportunities
  • Responsible for working closely with Business Development Managers in defining new influencers/approval targets and for executing those agreed under responsibility
  • Digital Colour & Moonwalk: maximising the use of digital tools in the regions, offering service to distributors and end-users when required
  • New product launches: Introduce new products in end-users and bodyshops to maximise the success of any new project
  • Work coordinated with sales and Marketing Operations to implement product obsoletions and replacements minimising churn and maximising market participation
  • Quality & Technical complaints: Manage all product claims together with the technical manager through PPG’s CAIR system
  • Offer to customer a quick solution or alternative while the root cause investigation is ongoing
  • Follow-up all complaints until totally solved
  • In all instances observe PPG’s code of ethics, export compliance and anti-corruption policies

Requirements:

  • Best-in-class Refinish Collision, knowledge and application experience
  • Best-in-class knowledge in refinish collision bodyshops end-users dynamics
  • Five to ten years business experience in refinish commercial roles with good understanding of products, end-user requirements and PPG organization and strategy
  • Teamwork and communication skills of the highest order
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Commercial approach
  • People management skills and ability to deal with customers at all levels
  • Capacity & availability to travel around South Africa
  • Job holder is expected to be self-reliant and self-motivated achieving agreed objectives without a direct instruction on a day-to-day basis
