As a Power Plant Operator A, you will be a vital part of our manufacturing team, responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining power generation systems. This includes monitoring equipment, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards and ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Job Responsibility:

  • Operate boilers, and may operate engines and boiler associated auxiliary equipment
  • Read gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations
  • Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels
  • Activate valves to change the amount of water, air, and fuel in boilers
  • Fire coal furnaces or feed boilers, using gas feeds or oil pumps
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently
  • Check safety devices and perform environmental checks routinely
  • Record data and keep logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activity

Requirements:

  • City of Seattle Steam Engineer's License Grade 2
  • 3+ Year Experience of boiler operation and maintenance experience
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to stand, twist, bend, kneel and occasional crawling within an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to work in noisy environments while completing tasks
  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Must meet Export Control compliance requirements (US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15)
  • This position requires an individual when working at heights to utilize fall protection equipment that has weight limitations

  • Answer phones and emails during the shift
  • Coordinate, document, and implement all necessary remedial actions to maximize the availability of the equipment and production/revenue according to pricing, resources, forecasts, and maintenance procedures
  • Interpret and execute activities associated with asset contracts (PPAs, LGIA’s, O&M agreements), including capacity scheduling/reporting, telemetry issues, or remote-control capability impacts
  • Operate multiple power plants IAW regulatory operating requirements (i.e., CPUC/WECC/Prudent Utility Practices)
  • Coordinate with the Field Operations teams, including Site Managers, Supervisors, and technicians, in daily activities for plant status verifications, downtime reporting, and safe actions of remote equipment
  • Coordinate with external entities such as Scheduling Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and Reliability Entities for the performance of status notifications or Operating Instructions
