Join our Power VIC team as a Planner, where you’ll play a key role in driving the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects. We are seeking an experienced Planner with strong capability in preparing and submitting technical applications and a solid understanding of network standards and regulatory requirements. This role will suit someone who is confident navigating approvals processes and working closely with stakeholders to progress projects efficiently. Your expertise in analysis, scoping, and strategic recommendations will support network augmentation and help shape the future of Victoria’s power network. Job Responsibility:
Assess network performance, capacity constraints, and future load requirements
Model network options (HV/LV), evaluate constraints, and identify optimal solutions
Contribute to long-term asset and network strategies
Prepare planning applications for Electrical Distribution Business’ including: Network augmentation applications, Customer connection planning assessments
Ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards (DNSP guidelines, Vic Electricity Distribution Code)
Write clear technical narratives that communicate need, scope, risk and justification
Liaise with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, construction leads)
Engage with external customers, councils, developers and contractors
Provide expert advice regarding network constraints, and planning standards
Ensure planning solutions comply with: Electricity Distribution Code, National Electricity Rules (relevant sections), Company planning standards, Safety and environmental requirements
Requirements:
Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (HV/LV)
Ability to interpret and apply network planning standards
Proficiency with network modelling tools
Prior experience in Power industry
Demonstrated experience preparing planning or technical documentation
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is desirable
Previous work with Victorian DNSPs (e.g., AusNet, Powercor, Jemena, United Energy, CitiPower) is desirable
Knowledge of relevant Australian standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 7000) and utility guideline
