This position will be planning and directing the build out of the Power Operations Center, developing the procedures, rules, instructions, and guidelines for operations center staff, hire and train operations center staff, evaluate procedures for operations centers and its readiness and effectiveness. The position will also create a daily list of tasks to complete, direct employees on building the control center, formulate procedures, and do quality checks on completed work.
Job Responsibility:
Planning and directing the build out of the Power Operations Center
Developing procedures, rules, instructions, and guidelines for operations center staff
Hiring and training operations center staff
Evaluating procedures for operations centers and its readiness and effectiveness
Creating a daily list of tasks
Directing employees on building the control center
Formulating procedures
Doing quality checks on completed work
Supervising monitoring and operation of the electric system including all unattended remote electric substations
Coordinating all activities that affect the operation of the electric system including switching, construction, repair, and maintenance
Issuing all Work Authorities for Clearance
Recommending selection of staff
Providing training and development of staff
Administering discipline
Developing procedures and operational guidelines for electric distribution, switching, safety clearances
Implementing switching procedures
Directing and coordinating all necessary switching activities
Documenting events on the electric systems
Providing input into and administering the budget
Authorizing expenditures
Monitoring staff payroll and overtime
Coordinating electric trouble calls
Calling off-duty stand-by personnel
Coordinating with PG&E and customers to schedule outages and restore services
Supervising the authorization of safety clearances and equipment shutdowns and start-ups
Ensuring staff adhere to safety procedures
Providing technical direction and guidance
Troubleshooting problems
Evaluating alternative solutions
Authorizing appropriate courses of action
Reviewing work performed by agency or contract maintenance staff
Ensuring safety regulations are met
Directing the maintenance of logs and records
Compiling periodic and special reports
Preparing correspondence, procedures and other written materials
Driving a motor vehicle to inspect facilities
Using standard office equipment
Requirements:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
Five (5) years of professional experience in electric distribution & related equipment
Three (3) years must include supervisory experience
Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license
Must become North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) certified within twelve (12) months of appointment
