Job Responsibility

  • Monitor the regulatory and electricity market environment in existing EDP geographies (being responsible for one/several of them)
  • Perform of price and remuneration forecasts for electricity (and green attributes when applicable) for those geographies, including in the context of project-specific due-diligences
  • Follow up regulatory developments with impact on company operations
  • Conduct with the support of the team the necessary analysis to quantify the impacts on the portfolio of EDPR of different regulatory proposals both at national and European (EU) level to assess risks and opportunities
  • Monitoring the evolution of BESS sector in the different EDPR geographies and analyzing the different drivers behind its behavior. This includes the daily follow up of regulatory changes fostering/inhibiting BESS deployment and specific opportunities such as auctions or state aid allocations
  • Supporting the elaboration of market reports to guide the approval of the entry in a BESS market including: deep analysis of the drivers supporting BESS growth, market functioning, revenue streams available (arbitrage, ancillary services, capacity markets) and regulation applying to both co-located and stand alone BESS assets
  • Develop forecasts of ancillary services prices and volumes for the different markets, based on fundamental and stochastic analysis
  • Continuously improve the optimization tool use for the analysis of BESS opportunities, including new features and adapting it to the different markets under analysis
  • Prepare remuneration forecasts for all BESS opportunities under analysis
  • Support in the participation in auctions, including the analysis of auction rules and potential strategy
  • Liaise with the different teams involve in the analysis of BESS opportunities to explain of regulatory restrictions and opportunities and ensure consistency among inputs

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent quantitative Degree). Major in Power Markets, Data Science or Statistics will be positively valued
  • At least 3-4 years in a similar role
  • Knowledge of electricity sector, power markets and BESS
  • Experience modelling in Python or R
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Strong analytical skills, well-rounded modelling capabilities
  • Proficient communication skills
  • Proactivity and entrepreneurship
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline and target orientated environment
