We are currently seeking a Power BI Developer / Lead (FTE/Hybrid) to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia (CA-NS), Canada (CA). The Power BI Lead will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions to support strategic, operational, risk, finance, compliance, and business analytics. The role will partner with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and technology teams to transform complex banking data into actionable insights while establishing reporting standards, governance, and self-service analytics capabilities. The candidate will play a key role in building scalable BI assets, standardizing KPI frameworks, optimizing semantic data models, and enabling executive decision-making through intuitive visualizations and analytics.
Job Responsibility
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions to support strategic, operational, risk, finance, compliance, and business analytics
Partner with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and technology teams to transform complex banking data into actionable insights
Establish reporting standards, governance, and self-service analytics capabilities
Build scalable BI assets, standardize KPI frameworks, optimize semantic data models
Enable executive decision-making through intuitive visualizations and analytics
Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting solutions
Build visually compelling and intuitive dashboards for senior leadership and business stakeholders
Develop reusable reporting templates and standardized visualization frameworks
Create drill-down, drill-through, and self-service analytics experiences
Develop and optimize semantic data models, star schema models, and reporting layers
Build advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and time intelligence logic
Perform data transformation using Power Query (M)
Work with structured and semi-structured datasets from enterprise banking systems
Optimize report performance, refresh cycles, and dataset efficiency
Improve query performance for large-scale enterprise datasets
Implement incremental refresh and best practices
Integrate Power BI with SQL Server / Oracle / Snowflake / Azure Data sources, data warehouses and enterprise data lakes, APIs and enterprise reporting systems
Requirements
7–12+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or reporting roles
4+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience
Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop & Service, DAX, Power Query (M), Data modeling (star/snowflake schema), SQL
Experience working with large enterprise datasets
Strong dashboard storytelling and executive reporting capabilities
Experience in Banking / Financial Services domain
Nice to have
Experience in Capital Markets / Investment Banking / Treasury / Risk analytics
Experience with Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, or enterprise data lakes
