Job Description:

Are you an experienced Powder Coating professional with a natural talent for leadership? We are searching for a dedicated Powder Coating Team Lead to join a specialized automotive parts manufacturing facility in North York. This is a permanent, full-time position with a competitive salary range of $28.00 to $32.00 per hour and a consistent day shift schedule of Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM. This role is designed for a 'self-starter' who thrives in a high-autonomy environment and takes pride in delivering flawless finishes while leading a small, dynamic team. As a Powder Coating Team Lead in the manufacturing & logistics sector, you won't just be overseeing a process; you will be the heartbeat of the production floor. The facility operates as a specialized 2000 sq. ft. shop where quality and efficiency are the top priorities. We are looking for a leader who can manage a rotating team of associates while maintaining a hands-on approach to powder coating, finishing, and quality control. If you have a sharp eye for detail and the drive to meet 'Just In Time' manufacturing quotas within a fast-paced environment, this Powder Coating Team Lead role is your next career milestone.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide comprehensive training to assigned associates on the safe operation of powder coating machinery, spray guns, and tools
  • Oversee the entire production process to ensure the team meets a weekly target of approximately 155,000 finished products
  • Maintain a strict daily reject rate of 1-2% or less, ensuring customer quality standards are never compromised
  • Plan and organize daily work instructions, assigning tasks to a team of 1 to 6 associates depending on business volume
  • Perform 'Line Process Audit' (LPA) type procedures to ensure all quality standards are consistently met before product leaves the facility
  • Manage shipping and logistics, including the creation of Bills of Lading (BOLs) and coordinating incoming/outgoing shipments with the dedicated carrier
  • Conduct inventory counts, investigate discrepancies, and order necessary PPE, paint, and raw materials to prevent production stoppages
  • Act as the primary troubleshooter for all process issues, communicating effectively with the ownership team regarding equipment or personnel needs
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing WHMIS and OH&S standards, including daily housekeeping and equipment shut-down at the end of every shift
  • Fill in for associates within the work cell when necessary to maintain steady production flow and ensure waste bins are emptied

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience specifically in a powder coating production environment
  • Prior experience in a Lead Hand role within a manufacturing & logistics or industrial setting
  • Physically demanding
  • requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work within a fast-paced environment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Nice to have:

Valid Forklift experience is considered a strong asset for loading/unloading skids and managing the yard

What we offer:
  • Permanent full-time opportunity in the North York area, offering long-term stability
  • Competitive salary range of $28.00 to $32.00 per hour based on your specific experience level
  • Standard day shift schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • High level of autonomy in a small-shop environment—the ability to 'run your own show' and build your team
  • Opportunity to develop and implement new methods for tracking and measuring production processes
  • Working with a management team that is highly receptive to suggestions for process improvement and efficiency
