A collections-based fellowship for early career researchers in the arts and humanities or social sciences, designed to encourage the promotion and use of British Library collections in sustainability and environmental research.
Job Responsibility:
Propose and conduct a collections-based project to encourage the promotion and use of British Library collections in sustainability and environmental research
Assist the Library to work in new ways to meet its environmental and sustainability goals
Develop internal and external education around sustainable research and practice
Showcase the rich potential of our collections in this area
Help us to better understand the needs of users including broader research communities such as activists and creative practitioners
Requirements:
Early career researchers in the arts and humanities or social sciences
Propose a project relevant to sustainability and environment that encourages the use of British Library collections
Project must explore collection areas relevant to sustainability and environment and seek to connect shared histories and futures
Applicants must make explicit their response to the application requirements and the Library's published aim to open up the collection in new and interesting ways to support work on solutions to environmental challenges
Nice to have:
Projects exploring collections related to: science, law, politics, literature, stamps, newspapers, maps, poetry, weather reports, oral histories
Proposed outputs including: journal articles, blog posts, podcasts, public talks or performances, community engagement activities, submission of research bids or other funding applications
Projects approaching collections through research themes: Development of environmentalism
How archive and library collections can be used to examine changing landscapes, waterways, climates and ecologies
