Job Description:

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to join our team as a postdoctoral fellow (f/m/d) in our BMFTR-funded technology development project. We will explore cellular engineering of synthetic compartments and their usage in drug development. You will join an interdisciplinary, well-equipped and collaborative research environment. This project sits at the interface of biochemistry, structural biology and synthetic cell engineering, offering the opportunity to transform fundamental discoveries into technologies with start-up potential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Explore cellular engineering of synthetic compartments and their usage in drug development
  • Plan complex experiments independently
  • Engage in technology transfer into an academic start-up setting

Requirements:

  • PhD in biochemistry, molecular/cell biology or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: Cell line development, human tissue culture and functional assays
  • Membrane protein purification and biophysical characterization
  • Development of antibody or small-molecule assays for screening or drug discovery

Nice to have:

Experience in cryo-EM/ET, mass spectrometry or flow cytometry

  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
  • Assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards
  • Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
