Job Description:

Postdoctoral position part of a new MRC-funded project aimed at achieving an individual-level understanding of the development and organizational principles of brain circuits that support psychiatric conditions. The researcher will join the Vaghi Lab in the Department of Psychology at Birkbeck, University of London.

Job Responsibility:

Scientific input into design and direction of research questions
Using advanced techniques (normative modelling, precision functional mapping with dense fMRI sampling) to study developmental trajectories of brain circuits implicated in compulsivity
Identifying network topologies supporting flexible cognition at individual level in OCD patients
Working independently and in collaboration with lab members
Participating in regular lab meetings
Attending national and international conferences
Participating fully in lab life
Assisting in supervision of junior team members
Applying for independent research funding
Becoming increasingly autonomous

Requirements:

Finished or about to finish a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., cognitive neuroscience, psychology)
Self-motivated
Comfortable with analytic and critical thinking
Strong cognitive neuroscience and imaging background
Interest in connecting brain data to cognitive theories of compulsivity
Rich experience with neuroimaging methods and data collection (fMRI)
Experience with task design
Good programming skills
