Job Description:

Environmental DNA (eDNA) research position focused on pushing boundaries of eDNA science through exploring eDNA enrichment, quantification and modelling/software methods. Join multidisciplinary team to develop novel field and laboratory methods.

Job Responsibility:

Design and experimentally test eDNA sampling methods
Develop field sampling and extraction protocols
Establish sampling, laboratory, or bioinformatic methods with new sequencing technologies
Lead analysis and publication of data in high quality publications
Carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO

Requirements:

Doctorate (or shortly completing PhD) in eDNA, molecular ecology or other trace DNA-based genetics
Experience in sampling, extracting and handling trace-level DNA including contamination measures
Strong hands-on experience in molecular techniques including DNA extraction, qPCR, and library preparation for high-throughput sequencing
Experience conducting field-based sample collection involving water sampling, filtration, or environmental sample capture
Experience working with next-generation sequencing output for environmental or degraded DNA
Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments including troubleshooting and method development
Familiarity with eDNA applications in biodiversity monitoring or population-level analyses
