Multiple funded postdoctoral fellow positions are available for highly motivated candidates in the Gulhati laboratory at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The lab takes an integrated approach employing a diverse array of experimental models and cutting-edge techniques to conduct mechanistic and translational studies in pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers. Current projects in the lab focus on: i) signaling pathways downstream of KRAS that mediate cross-talk between pancreatic cancer cells and the stromal microenvironment including immune cells and fibroblasts; ii) the immunosuppressive microenvironment in pancreatic tumors and identification of novel therapeutic targets to increase efficacy of immune checkpoint therapy and chemotherapy; iii) identification and functional validation of novel genes and pathways driving initiation, metastasis and therapeutic resistance of gastrointestinal cancers. Our overarching goal is to identify new vulnerabilities and novel treatments that can be translated to the clinic.
Job Responsibility:
Gain research experience in cellular and molecular biology, tumor microenvironment and immunology, mouse models of cancer, and translational research using human biospecimens
Publish research findings in high impact journals
Present work at national and international meetings
Work in an inter-disciplinary, productive and highly collaborative environment
Interact with basic scientists, computational biologists, translational researchers and clinicians
Requirements:
Ph.D. in the biological sciences (immunology, cell or molecular biology, cancer biology or related discipline)
Strong background in cellular and molecular biology techniques
