Job Description:

The Wiersielis Lab in the Department of Biobehavioral Health at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our research team. Our work investigates the neurobehavioral effects of environmental chemical exposure, with an emphasis on endocrine-disrupting compounds, stress, cognition, anxiety, and sex-dependent mechanisms of neurotoxicity using mouse models.

Job Responsibility:

  • Employ a combination of behavioral assays, ELISA, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry
  • Investigate the neurobehavioral effects of environmental chemical exposure, with an emphasis on endocrine-disrupting compounds, stress, cognition, anxiety, and sex-dependent mechanisms of neurotoxicity using mouse models

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, toxicology, molecular biology, or a related field
  • Strong background in behavioral neuroscience in rodent models
  • Demonstrated ability of animal handling and behavioral testing paradigms
  • Experience with molecular techniques (e.g., qPCR, ELISA)
  • Proficiency in immunohistochemistry and histology for tissue analysis
  • Laboratory management experience
  • Statistical analysis
  • Presentation at national and international conferences
  • Primary drafting of peer-reviewed manuscripts
  • Extramural funding proposals
  • Mentorship of undergraduate and doctoral students
  • Must have resided in the U.S. for three of the past five years (36 of the past 60 months)

Nice to have:
