You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where material scientists, chemists, physicists, and engineers collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research. The research group - within the Center for Materials Interfaces coordinated by Prof. Gianni Ciofani - is led by Dr. Virgilio Mattoli, who has extensive experience in soft/conformable electronics, micro/nanofabrication, two-photon lithography and sensors. The research focuses on the development of wireless electronics to be integrated in a multi-sensorized smart magnetic platform to be implanted in intestine after surgery for anastomotic healing and leakage evaluation. This includes also the possible integration of electronics with sensors and on the devices fabricated by other partners of the project.
Job Responsibility:
Develop soft, flexible sensors for detection of tissue electrical impedance, and multipoint temperature monitoring
Optimization of the fabrication and integration processes involving devices and sensors at the millimeter scale
Characterization of fabricated sensors and devices
Requirements:
A PhD in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science and similar disciplines
Documented experience on clean room standard equipment and methods
Deep knowledge of soft, flexible or conformable electronics microfabrication processes (including but not limited to ink-jet printing, screen printing, laser patterning, lithography)
Knowledge of characterization equipment for mechanical, morphological and electrical properties of materials and devices
A strong publication record
The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
Good command in spoken and written English
Nice to have:
Knowledge of electronics characterization methods and tools
Strong problem-solving attitude
Good communication skills
