The Department of Pediatrics, Darby Children’s Research Institute’s Laboratory of Dr. Haemmerich is seeking a Post-doctoral to assist ongoing research efforts to develop targeted chemotherapy delivery for cancer treatment. Specifically, the job duties will include producing liposomal drug carriers, studies in rodent cancer models, imaging (MRI, fluorescence imaging), and computer modeling. The fellow will be expected to handle rodents and may assist in catheter implantation procedures. Producing liposomal drug carriers
studies in rodent cancer models
imaging (MRI, fluorescence imaging)
computer modeling
handling rodents
assisting in catheter implantation procedures
performing and/or assisting in therapeutic rodent studies
intravenous administration of liposomal chemotherapy, blood sampling and animal imaging
assisting and/or performing computer modeling studies where tumor drug delivery is simulated
producing and characterizing liposomal drug carriers
formulating liposomes, measuring release characteristics, and size
preparation and maintenance of primary cancer cell cultures
performing routine laboratory experiments, review and analysis of data, preparation of protocols and reports
maintaining clear, complete and up-to-date lab notebook and documentation of all experiments, results and reports
processing and analysis of tissues such as rodent tumors
quantification of tumor drug uptake with established methods such as by fluorometry and/or high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
assisting in animal surgeries
surgical removal of tumors, implantation of vascular catheters.
Requirements:
A doctoral degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in a discipline related to biology, bioengineering or biomedicine.
